<p>In 2019 Prosol announced the promising result of a first study on the role of dietary nucleotides (<strong>Ribodiet<sup>®</sup></strong>) in Alzheimer disease. Last July a scientific study on the same topic was published on <em>Biomedicine and Pharmacotherapy</em> review; the study showed extremely interesting benefits of <a href="https://www.prosol.it/ribodiet/">RIBODIET®</a> in alleviating memory decline, neuroinflammation and oxidative stress.</p>
<p><strong>Alzheimer&#8217;s disease</strong> is one of the most common form of dementia, characterized by the deposition of extracellular amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides in the brain. The neuronal death, that characterizes this neurodegenerative disorder, causes irreversible cognitive impairment and behavioral alteration.</p>
<p>The option of natural-derived products and nutraceuticals is scientifically solid and to be considered for a future medical option in industrialized countries. <strong>Natural products</strong> are not an alternative to drugs but, on the contrary, can be helpful to complement the pharmacological therapy and prevent the onset of chronic diseases.</p>
<p>In this context, has been showed that Ribonucleotides are able to improve the clinical outcomes in immunosuppressive and inflammatory-based diseases.</p>

<p>In this study, the cellular mechanisms triggered on muscle cells by <strong>nucleotides used as food supplements</strong> were verified for the first time. The new test reports made it possible to discover and verify for the first time the important roles they played.</p>

<h4>Scientific investigations of Ribonucleotides for Muscle Cell Function</h4></h4></div><div class="fusion-text fusion-text-7"><p>Prosol ingredients <a href="https://www.prosol.it/ribodiet/"><strong>Ribodiet®</strong></a> and <a href="https://www.prosol.it/ribocare/"><strong>Ribocare® MIX</strong></a> were submitted to the test.</p>
<p>Ribodiet® is a yeast extract standardized in free <strong>nucleotides</strong> (&gt;40%) source also of macro and micronutrients naturally occurring in yeast cell (AminoAcids, minerals, group B vitamins). Ribocare® MIX is a blend of pure nucleotides 20% each (AMP+CMP+GMP+UMP+IMP)</p>
<p>All the mix were used without solvents and loose directly in the medium used to stimulate the cells at the exact concentration corresponding to human dosages present in baby milk.</p>
<p>In light of the significant results obtained, supplementary experiments investigated the effects of the same nucleotides under strict exercise conditions with the purpose to recognize the correct human use of nucleotides as food supplements to better sustain the exercise effects. The results obtained show for the first time, a direct effect of nucleotides on energy metabolism and calcium/ magnesium movements during <em>in vitro</em> exercise simulation and provide useful indications to support muscle cells during exercise or during aging.</p>

<p>La presenza di <strong>nucleotidi</strong> nella dieta per favorire le prestazioni di crescita e lo sviluppo dell’immunità intestinale e un sano <strong>microbiota</strong> è più importante quando gli animali sono in condizioni stressanti o quando sono in una transitoria malnutrizione, come al momento dello<strong> svezzamento del suino</strong> (Grimble e Westwood, 2001; Sauer et al., 2011). È tra l’altro nella fase tra l’allattamento e lo svezzamento che il <strong>suinetto</strong> soggiace frequentemente a delle patologie enteriche che possono avere esiti piuttosto devastanti e richiedono massicci interventi terapeutici con antibiotici. </div><div class="fusion-text fusion-text-11"><p><strong>Somministrazione di nucleotidi durante l’allattamento e nel post-svezzamento</strong></p>
<p>«Curiosamente, mentre è già stato dato un certo rilievo agli studi riguardanti l’impiego di <strong>nucleotidi</strong> nella <strong>dieta di post-svezzamento</strong> (Sauer et al, 2012), non è invece stata considerata l’ipotesi di somministrazione durante l’allattamento. Si è quindi voluto valutare l’effetto combinato dell’apporto alimentare di nucleotidi in allattamento e nell’immediato post-svezzamento sulla crescita, sulla salute e sullo sviluppo dell’immunità intestinale e del microbiota nei <strong>suinetti</strong>».</p>

<p>&#8211; <strong>Immunity</strong> has been shown to be compromised in athletes, making them more susceptible to <strong>Upper</strong> <strong>Respiratory Tract Infections</strong>. Several studies have found <strong>salivary IgA</strong> to be decreased following bout of endurance exercise such as cycling, cross country skiing, running and swimming and also after shorter intense exercise (1, 2).</p>
<p>&#8211; Slight <strong>ischemia</strong> in the gut can damage mucosa and disrupt the <strong>mucosal barrier</strong>, resulting in increased permeability, and the resultant <strong>passage of pathogens</strong>, such as lipopolysaccharide, into the circulation (3,4).</p>
<p>&#8211; <strong>Cortisol</strong> level <strong>increases</strong> and it stimulates hepatic glucose release. Key signal for cortisol secretion is blood glucose decrease. Cortisol is also triggering an <strong>inflammation process</strong> through aspecific immune system as, for example, neutrophils degranulation.</p>
<p>&#8211; The innate immune system can also induce <strong>secondary muscle damage</strong> via the generation of reactive oxygen species (<strong>ROS</strong>), further attenuating athletic performance (5, 6).</p>
<p>&#8211; <strong>Excess of lactic acid</strong> is generated and accumulated in skeletal muscles, leading to muscle fatigue.</p>

<p>A study, published in 2007, showed a positive effect of dietary supplements including RNA nucleotides on some immune system parameters post strenuous, high-intensity exercise. <p>The effect on cortisol is confirmed also in another trial performed in US, where a dietary supplement with nucleotides, was tested on resistance exercise stress and recovery, involving 20 people. Blood samples analysis collected after 15 and 30 minutes of an Acute Heavy Resistance Exercise Protocol (AHREP) showed a lower cortisol level against the control. The authors speculate that this effect may be due to the ability of dietary nucleotides to increase hepatic glucose output. Acting in this way the signal for the cortisol release disappears or it is reduced with all the related side effects. Another outstanding output was related to a marker of the muscles tissue damage: Creatine Kinase (CK) was significantly lower 24 hours after AHREP.<br />
A lower CK value in nucleotide group means that muscle tissue damage was at a lower rate. Evidence, of what above mentioned, was that nucleotide group showed a faster recovery managing to finish AHREP already 24 hours after the first session, while control group managed to carry out all the physical protocol only after 48 hours (8).</p>

Once again <strong><em>dietary nucleotides</em></strong> <strong>improved some immunological and exercise performance indices</strong> (9).</p>

<p>In a study, mice fed with <strong><em>dietary nucleotides</em></strong>, after 30 days of treatment<strong>, increased the forced swimming time</strong>, enhance <strong>Lactate DeHydrogenase</strong> activity and hepatic glycogen levels, as well as delay in the accumulation of <strong>Blood Urea Nitrogen</strong> and <strong>Blood Lactic Acid</strong> in mice. <strong><em>Nucleotides</em></strong> also markedly <strong>improved fatigue-induced alterations in oxidative stress biomarkers</strong> and antioxidant enzymes. The results suggested that <strong><em>nucleotides exert anti-fatigue effects</em></strong>, which may be attributed to the inhibition of oxidative stress and the improvement of mitochondrial function in skeletal muscles. <p>Nucleotide-free diets have been shown to impair cell-mediated and humoral immune responses; which include decreased macrophage and natural killer (NK) cell activity, delayed type hypersensitivity responses, cytokine levels, lower antibody production, all of which may lead to an increased susceptibility to infection (Gil, 2002; Sanchez-Pozo and Gil, 2002). These changes can be reversed by supplementation with nucleotides (Gil, 2002; Navarro et al., 1996).</p>

<p>Studies carried out on humans have shown that dietary inclusion of RNA and Nucleotides bring about different positive effects on different body tissues. The main are the following:</p>
